Research for the benefit of a sustainable society - this is how the great wealth of research areas at the Department of Chemistry can be summarised.

At the Department of Chemistry, world-class research is conducted in all areas of chemistry, from basic research to applied research. Strong focus areas include the environment, renewable resources, and health. These broad concepts encompass all disciplines within the field of chemistry.

To achieve the best possible results, we have consolidated our research into three research centers: the Center for Molecular Protein Science (CMPS), the Center for Analysis and Synthesis (CAS), and the Division of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry. Within our centers, there are research groups that conduct teaching and research in specific subject areas.

All research is conducted at Kemicentrum, which is the largest center for research and education in chemistry in the Nordic region. It is a unique research environment with closeness to several major research centers, research parks, and industries. The environment is stimulating, interdisciplinary, and innovative. Many of our talented researchers are also dedicated teachers, who in turn inspire new generations of driven and curious researchers.
